This is just mental masturbation, nothing to it.  Let's say you are building a garage and have a large inheritance of money.  By a strange fate, you don't have any bikes at the moment.  Because of your busy love life and sport-touring lifestyle, your assistant/mechanic will be buying the bikes for you.  They just need a list.  Part of the conditions of the inheritance means you may pick one (and only one) bike from each manufacturer.

What is the list you give to your bike buyer?  Which would you pick from each maker to create your dream garage?

Current manufacturers only, but Buell is ok too.  Of course you can pass on any manufacturer, but it means less bikes for you.  Any money saved from your bike-buying-spree inheritance gets passed to your step-sibling who will squander it on obscure overpriced papier mache art.  I don't care if you list older bikes or newer ones.

Ducati – 916 or 996 - Pure Italian Sexy Goodness

Honda – Blackbird - So I could park it next to my current one
Husqvarna – SMR 510 - there ain’t no tard like a motard
Kawasaki – Hmm, maybe that new 1000 Ninja or a C14 for trips
KTM - RC8 - I got passed at Deal’s Gap by one of these, it sounded pretty
Moto Guzzi – Griso 1100
MV Agusta – Brutale 990R
Royal Enfield - Clubman - I have a weakness for the cafe racers

Benelli - tornado tre 1130
Bimota - DB7
BMW - s1000rr
Buell/EBR - the new 1190 RS.  so...much...carbon
Ducati - 1198r
Harley Davidson - electraglide, fully optioned...or the vrod muscle if it comes with marissa miller like in all the ads.
Honda - 07 cbr1000rr...in all black.  my was taken, i want it back.  or the NR750
Husqvarna - TE310
Kawasaki - C14 or zx-10r abs, can't decide which because while i've yet to add a sport tourer to this list, and have a large number of track weapons already listed, the new zx-10 is a sweeeeet machine in my book
KTM - rc8
Moto Guzzi - griso
MV Agusta - f4
Royal Enfield - bullet c5 military
Suzuki - busa
Triumph - speed triple
Vespa - one of the old 60's era scoots with the grip shift, no man should ride a modern vespa, sorry atadaskew...it's true.  very happy to see you bought that green one
Victory - hammer
Yamaha/Star - warrior.  maybe outdated but i still really like that bike.  like a vrod muscle, but without marissa miller
Other - vincent black lightning, ural patrol

I'm gonna cheat by starting with Major662's list.   Bigsmile

Aprilia - I only get to pick one?  2007 Tuono but with Ohlins shock (4 pad calipers that year--2008 was two pad).  Any color is fine.  Honorable mentions:  2003 Mille R (first year for radial brakes) and 2010 RSV4 in Max Biaggi colors.

Benelli Don't really want one.

Bimota - Not smart enough to choose.

BMW - K1200S but only in Alpine blue and white.

Buell/EBR - Lightning XB12, black and gold.

Ducati - So many to choose from...but the 999S edges out the 996SP and 1098.

Harley Davidson - Road King, in some retro color.  No leather hard luggage:  It's ridiculous.

Honda - Any bike?  RC 45.

Husqvarna

Kawasaki - 1998 ZX9R in Kawasaki green.

KTM - Duke 690...very slight edge over the RC8R.

Moto Guzzi - 1200 Sport.

MV Agusta - F4 1000 in silver and red.  I think this was 2005.

Royal Enfield

Suzuki - 1982 Katana GS1000.  With Ohlins shocks and a modern front end with Ohlins forks and radial brakes.

Triumph - 2001 Speed Triple in pink.  Has there ever been any other pink motorbike?

Vespa - LX 150.  A scooter, but with enough zip to be a serious around town tool.  Red as a sack full of hickeys.

Victory - Vision.  Let's go touring.

Yamaha - 2002 or 2003 R1.  I like the 2002 in red and black.

Other - Some ridiculously loud, fast, impractical Confederate bike.

Hmmm.  Forgot the CBX.  That's pretty cool.  How about one of the first VFR 1000's?  (I think it was 1984, maybe?)  Not a perfect bike or even fast by modern standards but it would be fun to have one.

Or maybe one of the first CBR900RR's.

I was kinda being a jerkstore with that post. I'd actually put a Ruckus in my garage but not at the price Honda has set  Crazy

Yeah, I'm sad to think that tigertim955 is right.   Headscratch  There isn't a Honda that is on my "want" list right now.  The previous generation VFR800 is pretty sweet (does Honda make it anymore?); the CBR600RR is a nice little piece.

I owned a CBR1000F and a VFR500F, both outstanding bikes.  But Honda isn't really on my radar these days.   Sad

I think it'd be more fun to pick one manufacturer from which to draw a stable of bikes.

For me, it'd be Triumph.

Speed 3 - aggressive street

Daytona 675R - track

Thunderbird Storm - cruising with my HD pirate friends

Thruxton - putting around alone or slap some leather bags on it for overnighters

Sprint GT - long trips

Hell, throw the Street R in there just because it's a great bike.

To the original post -

Triumph - Speed Triple
Ducati - Diavel Carbon
BMW - K1300S
HD - Softail Deluxe (looks awesome, rides awfully) or Street Glide (cool looking tourer)
Honda - VFR800 or CBR1000
Suzuki - 'Busa
Yamaha - R1
Kawasaki - ZX-14
Gootsie - new California or V7 Cafe
Victory - Hammer S
